Staples of the independent Canadian scene, filmmakers Kalil Haddad and Ryan Steel present the UK premiere of their new shorts cycle You Sorta Know It's Gonna End. Conceived as a video mixtape, this hour-long compendium echoes the era of VHS rips, featuring ten classic shorts from both directors, alongside the new collaboration 'BAND PRACTICE'.

A bold new voice in queer experimental film, Kalil Haddad's global tour of his previous collection He Never Dies: The Films of Kalil Haddad established him as a provocator; reckoning with a fraught visual aesthetic which inhabits the burning edge of cultural danger and morality. He recently starred in Isiah Medina's 2025 feature, Gangsterism. Ryan Steel is a member of the Winnipeg Film Group, previously working with established voices of the Canadian avant-garde such as directors Guy Maddin (My Winnipeg, Rumours) and Grace Glowiki (Dead Lover). He brings to this work his notion of material, analog and DIY aesthetic - together, crafting You Sorta Know It's Gonna End as a tangle of nostalgia, masculine crisis and caustic youth.

This UK Premiere will be followed by a video Q&A with directors Kalil Haddad and Ryan Steel.

Curated by Electric Blue Cinema, and Lucy Peters.
